Our favorite male feminists to celebrate International Men’s Day

Thanks, boys

Today is International Men’s Day. Some girls will complain that every other day of the year is also “International Men’s Day,” while guys will complain by saying we have International Women’s Day (thanks!) so men deserve a day too.

We completely agree, equality is what we’re all about. And just like men are already, we believe women deserve to be recognized every other day of the year.

Thankfully, so do these guys — our male allies.

Justin Trudeau

The Canadian Prime Minister probably calls himself a feminist more than we do. He urges other men to be feminists and says they “shouldn’t be afraid of the word feminist.” And we love him for it.

  • Barack Obama

The president has always been an advocate for women’s rights and a feminist role model for his daughters and young girls everywhere. He even wrote an entire essay titled “This is what a feminist looks like.”

  • Joe Biden

During a speech rallying against Donald Trump, the vice president said that if people “were smart,” they’d become feminists. Listen to Joe guys, be smart.

Honored to introduce someone special at tonight's Oscars. Because #ItsOnUs — all of us — to stop sexual assault.

    John Legend

The singer said “All men should be feminists.” Yes, John! And all men should be like John Legend.

  • Daniel Radcliffe

The actor first thought he was a feminist, “just by the virtue of the fact that I believe in equal rights for everyone” and was sure of it soon after.

    Tom Hiddleston

Elle featured Hiddleston in their #ElleFeminism issue in December 2015, which was dedicated to “empowering and empowered women. And men.”

The actor was one of the first celebrities to publicly join Emma Watson’s HeForShe campaign when he told her she’s “impeccable and extraordinary. I stand with you. I believe in gender equality.”

    Benedict Cumberbatch

The actor who also featured in Elle’s feminism issue asked fans not to call themselves “Cumberbitches” because it “sets feminism back so many notches”

    Ryan Gosling

Of course Ryan is a feminist. There is even an entire book of memes to prove it, which studies have shown has actually made more men proud to be feminists. Hey Ryan, thanks (we love you).

So this one has been for our male feminists who believe in the same equality we do. Thanks, boys!
