I photoshopped my pictures to see if anybody would notice

It felt so fake

In a world of thigh gaps and flawless faces, having any imperfections can make you feel like shit. This reason is why photoshopping became so popular. People tend to change literally any flaw that they don’t want to with technology. Photoshop is easy to access and apply. It can take you two to three minutes to dramatically change any photo you want.

In light of this, I wanted to post some photoshopped pictures to Facebook to see what people would comment, and if I’d actually get more likes or not. Obviously while I was photoshopping I tried to do it in a subtle way so that people wouldn’t notice a drastic change.

This skin is now flawless

The selfie I posted got as many likes that it’d get without photoshop – and there wasn’t anything eye-catching in the comments either (just keep in mind that I was already wearing a full-face of makeup in this picture). I used one of the programs which you can access literally in seconds – I photoshopped my nose, my eyebrows, my skin, essentially everything I have on my face, even the wing of my eyeliner…

But the picture of my body, I waited so long for someone to comment saying how I had lost so much weight – and of course, it happened. No, I hadn’t lost weight, I just spent two minutes on an app to make myself look skinnier.

When you look at your natural body and your photoshopped body side-to-side, you start feeling less confident about yourself and see your flaws even more because you’re looking at a image which is not real.

After I put them on Facebook, I wanted to text one of my friends and my mum some photoshopped pictures to see their reaction.

Urban Decay – or maybe just an app?

Damn it, Mother

It’s weird and a little bit sad at the same time  that people who see me everyday couldn’t tell what was different in my face or my body.

There will be days that you will be confident with your own skin and body but also there will be days you feel like crap. But changing your image on social media will not help you at all – everybody is beautiful in their own unique way.

It’s very sad that many people still think that they should edit their pictures before posting them; no, don’t try to change the way you actually are and don’t fool yourself with something which is not real.
