According to consultant plastic surgeon, Mo Akhavani, there’s been a “30 percent rise in women requesting a smaller nipple size in the last year.”
Meaning, smaller nipples are set to become the biggest cosmetic surgery trend of 2017.
Cosmetic surgery, different from plastic surgery in that its primary focus is enhancing a patient’s appearance, has been popular for quite a while, but as times change, so do priorities.
With women’s nipples becoming more widely accepted in both high fashion as well as every day street-style, the desire to show off nipples has grown with every Instagram trend. Of course, with the desire to show off nipples, comes the desire to feel comfortable with what one is showing off — and for some, apparently, that means smaller nipples.
“There is more of a focus now on nipple size in general,” Akhavani continued.
Nipples are becoming more aesthetic than sexual, and people are finding interest in altering them in the same way we alter our own personal fashion.
According to Akhavani’s study, nipples larger than 50 percent of the breast were deemed too large by the majority of study participants.
“We found that patients with smaller-sized nipples rated high in attractiveness than those with larger nipples,” he said.
So whether you want to change their size to get them pierced or just to show off through a sheer top, you can take solace in the fact that you’re absolutely not alone.
