Now lip reduction is the new plastic surgery trend and I honestly can’t even keep up anymore

What’s Kylie gonna do???

It’s hard to believe in the funny old world we live in – where collagen, fillers and pretending your huge lips are completely natural is the done thing – that anyone would want to make their lips smaller, but apparently that’s the new surgery trend. If you just managed to wrap your head around the fact that people inject cement into their asses, hold on because this is a wild ride.

New Beauty reports that in Asia lip reduction surgery has taken off in a huge way, as women strive to achieve the ‘bow and arrow’ type facial shape. This means having a thinner top lip, so more and more Asian women are paying for lip reduction surgery.

The painful procedure, which takes place under local anaesthetic, takes between 15 minutes and half an hour, and consists of removing skin from the top lip on the ‘dry-wet line’ before using stitches to create a new lip line. The stitches have to stay in for a full week afterwards. And if all that doesn’t put you off, it will set you back between $2,000-$10,000 to have the whole thing done. Great.

The trend first started around five years ago, and has flitted in and out of fashion since, as Western, Caucasian featured become more sought after. But lip reduction doesn’t just exist overseas. Even here in the land of bee-sting trout pouts it’s available, for the definitely totally reasonable price of £1,500 (around $2,000).

Think I’ll pass.
