'I wish I never reported my assault'
Yesterday conditions stemming from sexual assault became pre-existing conditions, because reporting sexual assault was a bit too easy before, so Republicans thought they’d mix things up a bit.
In Trump’s America one thing is undeniably true, and that is that being a woman is a liability.
In a speech hours after the bill was passed in the house, Planned Parenthood’s president, Cecile Richards, said “For those of you who have been blissfully off of Twitter, millions of folks who come to us for cancer screenings and for family planning, particularly in medically underserved areas, will no longer be able to go to Planned Parenthood for that care.”
If this law passes the Senate, insurance companies will be able to charge as much as they want.
Things are looking bleak.
So in an attempt to humanize those of us who are now pre-existing conditions, here are some of the most heartbreaking tweets surrounding the situation.
This is what is means to be a #PreExistingCondition in Trump’s America
Being grateful that you didn’t report your assault
Regretting reporting your assault when you did
Having to be grateful for the timing of your assault
Having to remind women they are humans too
Having to refer to yourself as a pre-existing condition
Having to decide between health and safety
My stomach churns for these women when I read their words, and I know theirs churns for me.
Now, more than ever, we need one another #WeAreAllPreExistingConditions
