This is the best time to use Tinder to get the most matches, according to actual scientific research

Oh good, science finally does something useful

Let’s be real, this is not a fucking game. You’re using this app for success, nothing less, and that means covering all your bases. For instance, what time should you be using Tinder to ensure the most matches? The question which has dogged scientists and statisticians for years, the biggest problem in our entire lives, it’s finally been answered.

Research from the Nielsen people says that late night 10-11pm is the best time to use Tinder if you want to get a lot of matches, because it’s when most people are online.

They researched trends across two dating websites, OKCupid (which you’re probably not on if you’re like under 50 and not so painfully alone you’ve started your own podcast about overnight oats) and Tinder, and found that Tinderers use the app most in the evening, especially after 6pm, while OKCupid users checked the app in the morning.

The study claims: “When we look at unique audience, we see that a larger percentage of all OKC users sign in both in the morning and night. On Tinder, the user’s likelihood to check in between noon and midnight is mostly flat at about 40 per cent”.

Nielsen’s research also examined use of other chirpsing platforms. They said: “Outside of the dating arena, our share-of-minute analysis found a handoff from one app to the other throughout the day. Among Facebook Messenger, Snapchat and Tinder, Facebook Messenger use is busiest of the three from morning until 2 p.m., which is when Snapchat takes over the share of minutes. When 8 p.m. strikes, Tinder hits its stride.”

So now we’ve got the definitive answer – use Tinder at night. So why won’t anyone match me?
