The only thing worse than Trump is a bad season of House of Cards, which is apparently what we’re getting

‘Make House of Cards great again’

We’re no stranger to shitty politicians at the moment, but apparently Frank takes the cake in the new season of House of Cards, airing on Netflix tomorrow.

Frank and Claire are back for season five, and this time they’re bringing more than is warranted. Reviews have just dropped, and critics seem unhappy.

Some are selling the season as having “new swagger” — whatever that means — but others are straight up rinsing it, with headlines like “Let’s make House of Cards great again.”

“It’s gone from genius crackpottery to soapy camp. Here are all the ingredients required to give Frank Underwood his grim, glorious swagger back,” The Guardian wrote.

Others are worried it’ll be impossible to make a fictional president more shocking and absurd than the real one.

The issue, according to most, is that season five seems to have lost the plot.

“When House of Cards debuted on Netflix in 2013, it became something of a phenomenon. . . House of Cards was cool when Frank Underwood was more of a snake and less of a lion,” Decider wrote.

One redeeming factor: Clair dominates the earlier episodes, so at least we’ll have more girl time on screen.

But it doesn’t sound like that’ll be enough to makeup for the turn this show has taken. First Trump, and now this?
