We expected men to melt down over a women only screening, but why are women?

‘How many of your husbands bought your tickets?’

Alamo Drafthouse is hosting a women only screening of Wonder Woman

Alamo Drafthouse in Austin announced last week that they’d be celebrating the release of Wonder Woman with a woman only screening at its Austin location on June 6, which seems like a cool, but really normal, thing to do.

“Apologies, gentlemen, but we’re embracing our girl power and saying ‘No Guys Allowed’ for one special night at the Alamo Ritz. And when we say ‘People Who Identify As Women Only,’ we mean it. Everyone working at this screening — venue staff, projectionist, and culinary team — will be female.”

Until guys caught wind of it.

Of course the men are melting down

I understand that guys have no idea how to process emotions other than anger, but watching these grown man legitimately melt down on the internet is better than anything I’ve seen on Netflix in 2017.

It’s like someone told them we were locking the gates of Heaven and they’d all be subjected to Hell for the rest of eternity because of their gender.

The best part is the Drafthouse clapping back.

Like these ones who want a men only screening

Or these ones who want to appropriate someone else’s lived experience for the sake of feeling included

They’re going to be shocked when they find out where Wonder Woman is from

It’s literally an event celebrating a movie about a female hero, from an island and civilization consisting of only women.

But what’s most mind-boggling is that women are flipping out too

‘How many of your husbands gave you money for this?’

‘Imagine the uproar over a men’s only screening’

‘I’m a feminist and I’m pissed’

‘Women do not need your pity’

If something as small as a women only screening causes a hell storm like this, it’s no wonder progress is stilted.

“Sad!”
