If you’re a fashionable feminist, you should definitely be shopping at Bulletin Broads

femme as fuck

Bulletin Broads is a new store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn celebrating all things women — think cute necklaces and boob sculptures, pussy pins and anti-Trump memorabilia.

Babe collaborated with the brand for a pretty-yet-punky apparel photoshoot and chatted with the brains behind the operation, co-founders Alana Branston and Ali Kriegsman.

The idea started as an online marketplace. Alana said they wanted to create a space for people to showcase their work easily and effectively.

The store started off as a joke when they were working on creating a different space in SoHo, Ali said. The girls were joking around about creating a fuck Trump store right next to Ivanka Trump’s shop in SoHo, but that idea was tabled until this space opened up.

“We couldn’t really quiet this resistance, anti-Trump voice in all of our heads that we had come up with,” Ali said. Their way of sticking it to the tiny-hand man was creating a store that is essentially all about pussy power, and it’s incredible.

“It turned into a message of resistance instead of just a place to buy stuff, and in order to make that true we collaborated with Planned Parenthood,” Ali said.

Bulletin Broads donates 10 percent of all proceeds to Planned Parenthood clinics around New York City, and they also have a “dip jar” so people can donate even if they don’t purchase anything in-store.

With everyone scrambling to find a way to stop the terror that is the Trump administration, it was important to Ali and Alana to create a store that is doing something to support women instead of tear them down.

“We thought if the government is going to defund Planned Parenthood on a federal level, what can we do every single day to support that organization. We want to make it really easy for women to support other women in a way that doesn’t completely disrupt their day to day, because that’s not sustainable,” Ali said. “We are all badass entrepreneur women who have shit to do, but this is an easy way to make a difference every single day.”

If you aren’t already obsessed with the concept, the stores mascots are Ilana and Val (Abbi’s alter ego) from Broad City ( if you’re reading this, I love you).

I, for one, will be spending the entirety of my next paycheck on some “not your baby” denim, and a pussy necklace. So, grab your wallets and join the resistance, the patriarchy can be fun to fight when shopping is involved.
