Take that John McEnroe
Yesterday John McEnroe said Serena Williams would be ranked “like No. 700 in the world” if she played on the men’s circuit, but Vanity Fair knows that’s not true.
“If I were a man, then it wouldn’t be any sort of question,” she told them. And this morning they announced her on Twitter as their August 2017 cover star: “V.F. cover star Serena Williams — world’s best athlete (plus mom and wife-to-be) — still has her eyes on the prize.”
Williams and her fiancé Alexis Ohanian are looking forward to getting married in the fall after the birth of the baby.
The best player in history — with an aggregate winning percentage of 85.76 percent — she knew not to take what McEnroe said to heart. He is a talented, but tempered man.
“I don’t have time,” she spelled it out for him, “I’m trying to have a baby.”
And it just so happens that she looks stunning while doing so.
