Here’s what’s coming to Netflix in August, but don’t cancel all your plans just yet

They’ve really butchered it again

After a month like July, it didn’t seem Netflix could be much more out of touch with what viewers were asking for.

But despite being under fire, Netflix has somehow gotten it even more wrong with this month’s announcements.

Here’s what’s new:

Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later – August 4

The gang is back, older, and way less hot. A prequel to David Wain’s cult 2001 feature comedy “Wet Hot American Summer,” “First Day Of Camp,” instead of being set on the last day, will take place on . . . the first day of that very same camp.

  • Voltron: Legendary Defender (Season 3) – August 4

    I just . . . you’re not going to watch this.

  • Icarus – August 4

This film is a documentary about, and examination of, the good ole’ Russian doping scandal triggered by the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, incase that’s something you’ve been wondering about.

In December 2016, reports spread that over 1,000 Russian athletes in 30 different sports participated in the the doping practices.

  • Naked – August 11

This one is like Groundhogs Day where it repeats itself over and over and over, except instead of a cute story about love lost and found in Punxsutawney, it’s about a naked guy who is late to his wedding, and keeps having to relive the same naked moment?

  • Atypical – August 11

Sam, an 18-year-old on the autism spectrum decides it’s time for him to start dating, which complicates his relationship with his overbearing mother.

Already bracing myself for the inevitable backlash surrounding this one.

  • Marvel’s The Defenders – August 18

Okay, this one actually doesn’t look that bad. Plus, our girl Jessie Jones is back, so catch me watching this when I literally can’t find even one single other thing to watch next month.

  • Death Note – August 25th

Okay, in this one Light Turner, played by Nat Wolff, finds a book owned by the God of Death, allowing him to kill absolutely anyone he wants, and then he . . . jumps off a bridge?

One redeeming factor would be that Wolff is really cute, but his dye job in this isn’t working for me.

  • Disjointed – August 25

And of course, last but not least, “Disjointed” is about a lifelong advocate for marijuana legalization, staring Kathy Bates, who becomes the owner of a cannabis dispensary in Los Angeles.

We still don’t know much about this one, but I’m not sure how much is left to learn.

  • So buckle down and watch while you can. August is coming, and it’s not looking good.

We’ll be updating this story as the full release list becomes available.
