Lena Dunham is joining American Horror Story and people are…not happy

If you’re an American Horror Story stan, you know what a roller coaster of emotions AHS has been since Murder House. But maybe the most heart-wrenching announcement since Jessica Lange quit the show was made last night when Ryan Murphy announced Lena Dunham was joining the cast.

Sure, Lena Dunham is scary — but not in an awesome, fucked-up nuns and killer-clowns kind of way. Lena is a controversial lightning rod, and AHS fans are pissed about it.

Lots of people are threatening to stop watching the show.

Which is really saying something if they were willing to watch Freak Show.

Like, they would rather see AHS cancelled.

Ryan Murphy is cancelled, sorry!

Because no one wants to listen to Lena yelp while they’re trying to enjoy television.

Fans also decided this was a good time to remind everyone what a good AHS cast looked like.

Jessica I would cut off my left arm for you.

Ryan should really just delete his account.

And his friendship with Lena Dunham tbh.

We were all rooting for you, AHS. But honestly, your time may have finally come. No show is meant to last forever — look at the last 12 million seasons of Supernatural. Stop while you’re ahead. Don’t pull a Grey’s Anatomy.

We will miss you, but at least our memory of you will be pure.

Purge the Lena Dunham demon from your history. Just cancel the show. Take a vacation. You deserve it.
