‘TiK ToK’ Kesha is back and I literally want to go to a high school and get my grind on

This is nostalgia gold

I’m about to slide into a pair of leggings and a jean skirt, because the nostalgia feels behind Kesha’s new single are overwhelming.

Remember when you used to pound back shots of blue gatorade to TiK ToK? Back before you knew the power would one day be snatched out of your sticky little hands, and placed in the hands of some loser guy who’d eventually take credit for your talent as a means of overcompensating for his small dick?

Earlier this month, Kesha released the first single for her upcoming album Rainbow and quite honestly, it was hard to listen to. For years now, we’ve been following her, teary-eyed in court, fighting for the freedom to create and perform new music again and finally, like that, she was back.

The song, Praying, was a timeline of the hell-storm Dr. Luke put her through, and how, against all odds, she’s forced her way back to a standard arguably more successful than before.

“If I am alive, why. Why? If there is a god or whatever — something, somewhere — why have I been abandoned by everyone and everything I’ve ever known?” she says in the opening line of the video. But “this is just the beginning,” she told fans at the time of its release. And she wasn’t lying.

The next single she released, Woman, was an absolute power ballad about womanhood, independence, art and freedom; it was about owning your talents, and refusing to apologize for every single thing you’re blamed for.

“I buy my own things, I pay my own bills / These diamond rings, my automobiles / Everything I got, I bought it,” she sings.

And then Today Kesha dropped her latest single for the album, Learn to Let Go, and we can all finally agree she’s come full circle.

This comes a week after she broke down on stage because she was finally able to perform new music again.

It will make you want to take back every single “sorry” you’ve ever uttered. Call your ex and ask for your shit back, tell that guy you didn’t actually mean it when you said “It’s fine,” post that unsolicited dick pic on twitter and tag his ass.

Our girl didn’t climb back up the mountain of horse shit she was handed for nothing. Go forth. Learn from her.
