‘No means no’: Taylor Swift’s attorney defends the significance of her $1 countersuit

This is for all women

This afternoon Taylor Swift’s attorney,Douglas Baldridge, defended the significance of her $1 countersuit. He also emphasized Swift said “No” at the time of the alleged assault.

David Mueller, 55 was suing Swift for $3 million for what he asserted was a false accusation that he had groped her before a concert in 2013. On Saturday, the judge overseeing Mueller’s case threw it out.

Swift countersued for sexual assault, seeking just $1 in retribution.

“By returning a verdict on Ms. Swift’s counterclaim for a single symbolic dollar, the value of which is immeasurable to all women in this situation, you will tell every woman that no means no,” Taylor’s own attorney said today.

She broke down in tears as the lawyers presented their closing statements. Witnesses say she grabbed her mother’s hand and began to cry after Muller’s attorney held up the photo of her alleged assault.

Her attorney went on to describe Mueller’s “Shit eating grin,” after Mueller’s attorney attacked Swift’s face in the photo, saying “Is that the face of someone who just had a strange man grab their butt? Is that the face of someone who is in shock at what just happened, who’s upset? That’s the face of someone taking a photograph…participating in a meet-and greet. There’s nothing to suggest in Ms. Swift’s face that anything inappropriate has happened.”
