A producer on Bachelor in Paradise just called the DeMario-Corinne incident ‘summer fun’

‘I knew it was not going to be an issue’

In today’s “Why women don’t report,” Bachelor in Paradise’s executive producer Martin Hilton just told Entertainment Weekly he knew “pretty much immediately” that nothing would come from Corinne Olympios’ allegations of sexual misconduct against DeMario Jackson.

The encounter between the two led to the temporary shutdown, and investigation, of Bachelor in Paradise this summer, and the eventual clearance of the show, its producers and DeMario.

Today Hilton told EW about the tapes, “Just from watching it, it seemed to me that there was nothing really out of the ordinary. It seemed like summer fun that we would normally have in Paradise. And so it was fairly clear to me watching it that this was not going to be a long-term issue.”

And yesterday DeMario was spotted out in a “Show the tape!” T-shirt, leading fans of BIP to believe the feud is far from over.

“Obviously, as producers, you always have that feeling on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette,” Hilton continued, “but I feel pretty positive that we will be back next summer with another season of Bachelor in Paradise.

Despite DeMario’s clearance, hearing a producer say they knew “immediately” that nothing would come of a woman on their show reporting what she believed might have been sexual assault, offers a terrifying glimpse into how easily dismissed the concerns of women are, and why more women with cases aren’t doing it.
