This rape counseling center accidentally hired a convicted rapist

He was released from prison in 2011

This week, police in Fresno, California discovered a convicted rapist working security at Fresno’s rape counseling services center.

The convict, Damon Rodgers, 40, was convicted of two rapes in 1998 and released from prison in 2011. He was exposed as a rapist after posting on a Facebook forum, inquiring about a sidearm holster for a .45-caliber handgun.

It was then that a coworker called him out after discovering him on the California Megan’s Law website which details convicted sex offenders in the area.

“At first, the reporting party was trying to help him,” Detective Josh Alexander told People. “That’s how they started talking. Initially he was trying to help Rodgers out to get holstered, and then another guy said he is a convicted sex offender.”

The security company that employed the convict, Stone Protection services, reportedly did not do a background check. When Rodgers was exposed for the firearm purchase, he was allegedly in possession of another unregistered gun and switchblade.

Rodgers has entered a plea of not guilty, and he is currently held in Fresno County Jail on $386,000 bail.
