People keep saying Texas ‘deserved’ Hurricane Harvey for political reasons

Y’all are trash for this

Yesterday, University of Tampa sociology professor Ken Storey tweeted the following:

It wasn't long before the tweet spread and Storey was forced to issue an apology for his insensitive tweet.

The University of Tampa issued the following statement in regards to Storey's tweet:

“The University of Tampa stands in solidarity with the people impacted by Hurricane Harvey, and our thoughts and prayers are with all involved. The comments made by Kenneth Storey were made via his private social media account. They were not made within his capacity as a faculty member, and they don’t represent the University’s views. The University of Tampa condemns these comments and the sentiment behind them. Storey has publicly apologized for his comments.”

Unfortunately, Ken Storey isn't the only person on Twitter saying that Hurricane Harvey was deserved. Ann Coulter, the stray pube you find on a bar of soap, tweeted this gem:

Others have uttered similar, disgusting sentiments.

Hurricane Harvey isn't punishment for anything except for maybe our total denial of climate change. And have you ever met someone from Texas? They're not exactly the kinds of people you want to mock — they can bring assault weapons into Starbucks.

And in the meantime, here's how to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey instead of trying to stunt for retweets. Wanna talk about karma? Keep saying (largely minority, elderly, handicapped) people "deserved" to die and see what happens.
