Self-help books that are actually helpful and not a total crock of shit so you can finally get your life together

We need all the help we can get, tbh

If you've ever rolled your eyes at the idea of reading a self-help book, you're probably one of the people who needs a self-help book.

All those memes about being trash/messy/dramatic humans are funny but at some point the act gets old and you will actually have to stop being a trash human being.

These are the best self-help books that will help you evolve from a messy bitch to a power bitch who sort of has her shit together.

You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero

This one's at the top of the list because I can personally attest to its effectiveness. This book helped me realize the guy I was obsessing over was actually a piece of shit who I had no business bothering with and it made me start to be a more positive person. It's weird to not feel like a sinkhole of negativity all the time but it's also kinda great??

Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed

Not a self-help book per say, but it's a beautiful, heartwarming, makes-you-think advice book. And sometimes we need advice from a genuine, caring soul more than we need someone telling us how much we suck and how to fix ourselves.

The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom by Don Miguel Ruiz

This one will open your eyes and help you realize that we need to stop coming from a place of fear, but of love. It reminds us to not take shit personally. We can only control ourselves and our responses, no one else's. It'll wake you the fuck up.

Why Men Love Bitches by Sherry Argov

OK, so the first time my friend recommended this to me I laughed in her face. But then I read it. This book isn't about men so much as it's about embracing your inner bitch — but bitch isn't a derogatory term. It's about not being a doormat and sticking up for yourself and your morals and not trying to bend to get a guy to like you. Essentially, you're enough on your own. It's time to find a man who is worthy of you instead of trying to be worthy for a man. Read it.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson

The moral of the story is life is hard and instead of trying to make it sunshine and rainbows let's toughen the fuck up and learn to deal with the hardships better. This book won't coddle you and it won't tell you what you want to hear but will tell you what you need to hear.

Being a trainwreck is fun until it's tragic. Don't be that bitch who can't get her life together while everyone else around her is growing and evolving.

Trust me, you won't regret reading them but you might regret not reading them.
