This is my fight song: It’s called a birthDAY not a birthMONTH

It’s my birthday and I can party if I want to

I am fully aware that I am dragging myself by writing this because once October rolls around, I make everything about me and my upcoming birthday and nothing else. I get it. I get wanting to celebrate yourself for 30 extra days.

You're fun. You're awesome. You love yourself. So why not celebrate all day every day while Libra has risen or whatever?

Here's why: it's called a birthDAY, not a birthMONTH and we need to stop being so obnoxious. Myself included.

We get one day. You know why? Because other people have birthdays on those other days and they need to celebrate too. But more than that?

You should be celebrating yourself every day of every year and then, on your birthday, have the biggest fucking blowout celebration you could ever imagine for yourself. It's the one day a year you get to be a little bit extra and no one can say anything about it.

It's the day you remind everyone that you're incredible and if they forgot? Well, now they remember.

But if you spend 30 days shoving you and your birthday in everyone's face it's not going to make them want to celebrate you, it's going to make them want to unfollow you and ignore you IRL.

You get ONE day. And then, if your birthday happens to fall mid-week you get ONE weekend for parties/dinners/celebratory whatevers. But that's IT.

"You have as long as your helium number birthday balloons last to celebrate your birthday and then you move the fuck on." – she says as she mentally prepares to have one entire month dedicated to her and her birthday.
