A high school teacher is rating students on a scale of ‘pure as soap’ to ‘hopeless and condemned’

Tag yourself, I’m hopeless and condemned

This week, 16-year-old high school students enrolled in a financial literacy course were sent home with a survey that would rate them on a scale of "pure as ivy soap and maybe a fruitcake" to "hopeless and condemned."

Other outcomes included "normal and decent," "headed for serious trouble," and "already there."

The questionnaire given to students at Roy High School in Utah asked about everything from students' romantic sexual histories to drug and alcohol abuse, and was intended to determine their level of purity.

The questions ranged from "Have you or your girl ever had an abortion?" to "Would you go kinky to see what it's like?"

Kayla, a senior at the school, told babe that even though she was not in the class, she knew the teacher, Candance Thurgood, and was shocked to hear about it.

"I can see where students are coming from getting offended by the assignment," she said, but also explained parents were warned about the kind of content that would be discussed in class before allowing their children to sign up.

"There's a disclosure the parent have to sign," she told us.

But parents seemed confused, regardless. “I was in shock. I couldn’t believe something like this was handed out to students,” Heather Danks Miller, the mother of one of the students in the class told the Salt Lake Tribune.

The teacher has been placed on administrative leave while the situation is being investigated, and school officials say they were unaware of the survey at the time.

Babe has reached out to Roy High School for further comment.
