These photos of Selena in the hospital explain why she’s been ‘laying low’ lately

With the release of two new bangers — "Bad Liar" and "Fetish" — and the freaky music videos to go along with them, it's a wonder Selena wasn't promoting her new music earlier in the summer.

Both songs immediately flew to the top of the charts, and clearly had a ton of time and effort placed into them, especially in the case of "Bad Liar" which Selena managed to act every single role for.

Her fans, always on the edge of their seats, prepared for any sudden movement by her, were equally confused by her lack of both personal and online presence in the days leading up to her new content — save a few Instagram posts here and there. So what was she doing?

This morning, she took to Instagram to share three photos of herself and her best friend, Francia Raisa, in the hospital, following a kidney transplant for her Lupus — a disease she's spoken about publicly before — saying she's very aware her fans have noticed an absence in her presence, and explaining it was something she needed to do for her health.

Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs, which she explains is still "very misunderstood," and thanks her doctors for all they have done.

Because she says she's looking forward to sharing this journey with us, we're just wondering what kind of music video this will spawn.
