Taylor Swift accused of snaking lyrics…again ?

Maybe they should just shake it off

Though she's been critically and commercially lauded for her incredible lyrics, Taylor Swift is once again under fire for stealing them.

This time around she's being sued over the lyrics "players gonna play, haters gonna hate," from her second-to-worst song, "Shake it Off."

In 2001, songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler wrote "Playas Gon' Play," for now-defunct girl group 3LW. In the song, the trio sing that "Players they gonna play and haters they gonna hate."

And, I mean, sureeee maybe Taylor stole the lyrics but also those are common phrases used by literally every girl with a Tumblr account.

Sean and Nathan think they're entitled to 20 percent ownership of "Shake it Off" but maybe, instead of suing, they should just shake it off.

Taylor's rep told TMZ: "This is a ridiculous claim and nothing more than a money grab. The law is simple and clear. They do not have a case."

But this isn't the first time slithery Swift has been accused of snaking lyrics. In 2015, R&B singer Braham claimed that Taylor stole lyrics to "Shake it Off" from his song "Haters Gone Hate," but the case was thrown out in court.

What is it with dudes and "Shake it Off"?

In 2012, Taylor was accused of copying lyrics from singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson. In her song "All Too Well" off of best album "Red", she sings "And I forget about you long enough to forget why I needed to.”

In 2003, Nathanson released a song called "I Saw", which has the lyrics "And I’ll forget about you long enough to forget why I need to.”

? ? ? ? ?

Pretty similar if you ask me. Swifty got away with it though, natch.

Taylor also allegedly stole some lyrics for her song "I Know Places." This gem courtesy of me being a super duper snooper.

The lyrics "They are the hunters, we are the foxes" is eerily similar to the lines from A Fine Frenzy's 2007 song that goes, "They are the hunters, we are the rabbits." In fact, the songs are pretty similar in every way. Listen:

  • Listen, maybe Taylor heard "Rangers" once upon a time and didn't realize she was sort of copying A Fine Frenzy. Fine. That stuff happens. But girlllll maybe needs to run her lyric ideas through Google search from now on.
