Instagram’s sneakiest hidden feature might be the greatest one yet
How did I not know about this?
by Jenn Ficarra
If you're one of the few in the dark, please, let me bring you into the light.
Instagram has a feature that arrived some time ago, but without much fanfare. I think we were probably all pretty annoyed by the algorithm change that won't show our timeline in order (tbh I'm still annoyed). But this feature is actually useful, and I can't believe I didn't know about it sooner.
Archive allows you to "hide" photos from your feed without having to delete them. The photos are simply stored in an "archive" until you decide to add them back to your feed.
As someone who wanted to "rebrand" her Instagram, archive became a shining beacon of hope. I could hide all of my old or ugly photos without having to delete them and the memories attached.
How do you archive?
Go to the photo you want to hide
Click the three dots at the top right corner and you'll see this message pop up. Simply click on archive once you're sure you're ready to hide the photo.
Go back to your profile
Click that cute little clock at the top right hand corner and it will bring you to your archive. You'll be able to see all the photo you've archived in chronological order.
To bring a picture back
If you want to add the photo back to your feed just click on the photo and hit the three dots at the top right. You'll see this menu and then just click "show on profile". Once you go back to your profile the photo will be back in its original slot.
See? Super easy and super life changing.
Archive is also good if you're a shady bitch and need to hide photos for a short period of time. Or if you're a not shady bitch but trying to be a professional lady. Applying for jobs and want to make sure you look good and wholesome? Archive those wild pics until the contracts are signed, my babes.
