These spooky ghost stories will scare the shit out of you

We all need to sage ourselves

It's Halloween season, which means it's time for all of the realm's worst supernatural beings to take reign over the Earthen plane. But this Halloween, one supernatural being reigns supreme: ghosts.

Ghosts have always been around but lately, ghosts have risen in prominence. In fact, if you search through your phone contacts and dating profiles I'm sure you can find some of the worst ghosts in the world.

These are first hand accounts of some of the scariest ghost encounters that will make you want to stay in your house and never leave again.

The possibly dead ghost

"We'd been seeing each other on and off for about a year. Things were pretty casual to the point where we only know each other's first name. I don't even know where he works. I texted him to hang out and he never responded. I figured he was busy. A few weeks later, after not hearing from him, I texted him again with no response. He hasn't posted on social media in months. I have no idea what happened to him." – Jessica

The sick ghost

"When I was a sophomore in college, a guy I was talking to asked me to come to some Frat beach thing as his date. He said he would pick me up on Sunday morning. But I went out Saturday night and somehow ended up passing out at my friends place an hour away. In the morning, I wake up to tons of angry and worried messages from him, so I texted him saying I was in the Emergency Room and not doing well. He believed it and felt bad and still wanted to talk, but I was just so ashamed of myself and embarrassed I just never talked to him again and blocked him from everything." – Alex

The political ghost

"I hooked up with this guy for about two years and the last time we fucked was the night of the 2016 election. Worst sex ever – it was very painful. Then he ghosted me." – Sara

The friendly ghost

"We had mutual friends but finally connected through Tinder. We talked every day for two weeks straight. Finally went on an amazing date. He walked me home, bought my drinks, etc. It was so great. We talked for like three days after the date when all of a sudden he never responded to a text. I figured he was just busy. A few more days went by with radio silence before I realized he had ghosted. We still see each other sometimes because of our mutual friends. Things are fine but I call him Casper. He hates it but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ he deserves the nickname." – Emily

The married ghost

"Fell in love with this guy that I'd met in a coffee shop. He'd be really sketchy about being seen IRL though and would never want to do anything outside of our apartments. One day I just stopped hearing from him. A few months later I ran into him and his wife at the same coffee shop." – Melissa

The other married ghost

"We met in a bar. He was in town on business and we fucked in a hotel room. He gave me his card and I tried reaching out to keep in touch in case he came back into town. He never responded. Finally Facebook'd him and saw he was married with kids." – Liz

The still-haunting-you ghost

"My last semester of college, I started dating a guy about two years older than me. We hit it off right away and had amazing chemistry. We hung out multiple times a week and had sleepovers, texted and talked on the phone every day, I met all his friends, we went on proper dates, it was amazing. We decided to be exclusive and I even met his family and took care of his dog while he was away. We were in an official relationship for about four months. One night, we went out for dinner and drinks and went back to his. The next morning before I left, we made tentative plans for a few days later. And then I just NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN. Like, ever. It was like he vanished. He never texted me back or answered my calls. The only way I knew he was still alive was he watched all my Snapchat stories." – Veronica

The Ikea ghost

"For a third date we drove to Ikea because he 'needed a bed frame' but we ended up just low-key acting like we've been dating for ages. We then went back to mine and drank out of my new wine glasses and slept together. He had the audacity to ask me if I came and if it was good for me so you know it was bad. If you have to ask if I had a good time, I wasn't having a good time. I don't think I felt anything during the whole 10 minutes we had sex. I think I got the ick mid sex and just wanted it to end. Then idk why but we went for dinner afterwards and ugh I was just NOT having any of it but felt too bad to ditch so held through. Then as if it couldn't have ended there, it was late and he asked if he could crash at mine. I have never fallen asleep so fast in my life to avoid any more conversation. Next morning I faked sleeping until he left and never spoke to him again." – Rachel
