Your mom is the only good person left on social media, go thank her right now

‘Very beautiful baby xoxo!!’

There is no iPhone photo is too blurry, no fight with a relative too intimate, and no opinion about the 12th season of The Voice too trivial to be discussed on Mom Social Media.

It's not a stretch to say that middle-aged people are not necessarily keyed into the social media etiquette that feels intuitive to younger generations.

And moms are some of the worst offenders when it comes to eccentric behavior online. They overshare, they post a million pictures of the same thing and they don't have an amazing grasp on privacy settings.

Mom, I'm not a freaking virgin!

You might think this would make moms "bad" at social media, but on the contrary- middle-aged women with children are social media's brightest gems because they're not in it for fame or attention.

They basically just want to look at pictures of their kids, the kids their kids know, the kids of the adults they know, and share the occasional life update or holiday-themed recipe. And that's it.

Have you ever heard a 50-year-old woman complain about her Instagram grid or get upset about the ratio of like to love reacts on her profile picture? No. Moms don't care about those frivolities. They're online for all the right reasons, if you consider commenting embarrassing things on other peoples' pictures to be the "right reasons."

Social media might even be actively good for moms, beyond simple entertainment value.

Sites like Facebook give older adults the chance to reconnect with people from their past with whom they've fallen out of touch and help them feel connected to far-away family members who they don't often see in person, according to analysis by the Pew Center.

So if you think your mom is being annoying online, cut her some slack! And for a quick confidence boost, wait until she posts a picture of you so you can watch all of her friends compliment the shit out of you.
