First of all, the ‘First Of All’ is the feminist meme 2017 deserved

It’s been a long, unfunny year

Twitter is an exceptional place, offering an unparalleled variety of content to users in a ~sometimes~ fair and balanced manner.

When they aren't banning women for speaking out against Hollywood, they're actually pretty good about leveling the playing field, giving a voice to all users. Because it's a written medium and nobody can talk over anyone else, there's genuinely some illusion of fairness.

So when the "First of all" meme started trending, what began as a way to respond to people saying stupid things online, became — in just a few days — the feminist meme 2017 not only needed, but deserved.

Some girls are using the meme to work through shitty things people have said to them

And some are just reminding themselves to not text back

Others are using it to remind guys they weren't interested to begin with

And some are making jokes out of sexist comments they've heard

A few are finding ways to laugh about more serious subjects

While others are just straight up savage

And, of course, some are doing the lord's work

But what all the Tweets have in common is that they're a public reclamation of something — big or little — that was taken from us.

Humor is famously one of the moth therapeutic ways to work through stress, whether that stress is in the form of trauma or breakups, and Twitter is a comic's ideal platform.

So when the two things join together, a lot people get to publicly work through shit they've dealt with, and receiving support for that is priceless.
