Studies say dolphins are literally messy bitches who live for drama, just like you

‘Biiitch, did you hear who Flipper got with?!’

If you're an incessant shit-talker, don't feel bad- the impulse to gossip is actually natural, according to a new study on dolphin and whale social behavior.

According to The Guardian, scientists observed dolphins helping fisherman, playing with other aquatic mammals and "producing signature whistles for dolphins that are absent –- suggesting the animals may even gossip."

What exactly are dolphins gossiping about? Surely it's no coincidence that dolphins are some of nature's biggest horndogs. They're one of the only other species of mammals who have sex for pleasure, or at least for reasons beyond reproduction.

Who knows what kind of dish lies just beneath the ocean's surface? The aquatic realm is an entirely new frontier for drama and I have to say, I am 100 percent ready for it.

The research, published in Nature Ecology & Evolution, also found that dolphins and whales with more complex social and cultural structures have greater brain development, which supports a theory called the "cultural brain hypothesis" that states that the more ideas are circulating within a culture over time, the greater the brain's capacity for gaining new cultural knowledge will be.

Look at these smug motherfuckers, probably talking shit about you

Which is like, cool and all. But dolphins spreading rumors about each other is a way more compelling image, so let's focus on that.
