This makeup artist is under fire for ‘mimicking’ a rare skin condition on Instagram

‘SO WHAT WE’RE NOT GONNA DO IS…’

Makeup artist and drag queen Golgi Apparatus has incurred the wrath of the internet after uploading an Insta photo that appeared to be a recreation of the skin condition vitiligo.

Causing the skin to lose its color in blotches, the condition is rocked by several prominent models including Winnie Harlow:

Aaaand here's the photo uploaded by Golgi earlier this week:

Twitter was quick to point out how lame it is for makeup artists to treat a skin condition like something to be recreated for a trend like freckles.

After the massive backlash, Golgi deleted the photo (of course) and claimed she was only trying to recreate this photo of drag queen/queen of my heart, Valentina:

I'd like to leave it on, please

But I'm not exactly convinced. For starters, Valentina doesn't have a splotch on her chin and her paint is grey. Seems like there could have been a better way to recreate this, yeah?

Golgi apologized in a new post, but that doesn't mean there isn't still a massive fight taking place in the note's comments:

Hey, at least it's a genuine, heartfelt apology — which is more than we can say for some people.
