Gigi Hadid is barred from walking in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, possibly due to a racist video

‘So bummed I won’t make it’

It turns out Gigi Hadid won't be walking in this year's Victoria's Secret fashion show in Shanghai after all.

Instagram users were already not-thrilled about the model's upcoming gig after she was accused of mocking Asian people just months ago, but it seems her racist actions may have caught up to her.

In the video, she can be seen laughing and squinting her eyes while holding up a Buddha cookie. Now, the New York Post reports that the video resulted in Gigi being denied a visa to enter China, leaving her unable to walk in the show.

With the fashion show's airing only two weeks away, her announcement comes as a shock but it certainly seems final. While the other models flew to China today, Gigi's trip was abruptly cancelled.

"I'm so bummed I won't be able to make it to China this year," she said on Twitter today, adding she'll be there with all her girls "in spirit," and that she cannot wait to tune in and watch.

Gigi's announcement comes right after the fashion show was described this morning by a number of outlets as an "international media crisis."

“It’s just a nightmare for all the media trying to cover,” an insider told The Post, who said apparently lingerie models and the officials of the People’s Republic of China don’t get along.

We just thought it was because exes Taylor Swift and Harry Styles would both be there, but apparently a number of models are having an impossible time getting visas.

"The Chinese government won’t give them visas," Page Six reports, but it's unclear whether Gigi Hadid was unable to get a visa, or if she was banned for her actions.

Some of her fans are also 'bummed'

But some saw this coming

Her sister, Bella, is still expected to walk alongside models Lily Aldridge, Adriana Lima and Stella Maxwell.
