This guy asked his ex to delete her Venmo so he wouldn’t see her having fun

My unbothered QUEEN

In 2017 (nearly 2018) the hardest thing about breaking up with someone isn't about splitting the friend group or having to see them when you're out. The hardest thing isn't even doing the actual breaking up – no, no. In 2017, the hardest thing about breaking up is social media.

Who will keep your joint Instagram handle and which one of you will get custody of the Twitter? Which photos of him are you allowed to leave online, and how are you going to cope with seeing new ones of his?

But Gina Tomaine, 30, never could have guess that a year after splitting from her boyfriend, he'd show up at her home and ask her to "delete" her Venmo account, "or at least make every transaction private," so he wouldn't have to see she was "happy and had moved on."

"He hesitated and fidgeted with nervous energy, and it took a while for him to even explain what the hell he was doing there," she told the Mail about his sudden appearance at her doorstep.

I've always dreamt when I cut the chord with someone — or they cut it with me — they'd be so bothered they'd have to unfollow me on the gram because they couldn't stand seeing my shining, unbothered face every day.

I also know, instead, they'll just keep following me without even realizing, because they're so unbothered it didn't even occur to them to unfollow in the first place.

But just imagine, 7 apps further down the line — you've gone through Insta, Snap, FB, WhatsApp and everything else — you've ended up at Venmo, and you're so strung-out by the publicness of it all that you go to her house to ask her to hide her account. A YEAR after the fact.

"In his head, it wasn’t his responsibility to stop looking at my social media or Venmo," she said, "but it was my responsibility to stop posting things publicly that revealed I was happy."

I almost want to Venmo him to make him feel better — but she probably wouldn't see it anyway.
