Gigi just posted the most heartbreaking message about her breakup with Zayn, and it looks like he dumped her

Today, after more than two years together, supermodel Gigi Hadid, 22, and former One Direction band member, Zayn Malik, 25, broke up.

The news, which broke outside of the couple, reported they decided to split because of the stress that accompanied such a high-profile romance.

"They are no longer a couple but they do remain close and are supportive of each other," a source told the Sun, adding that the reality is "they've grown apart having been together for a long time.

Now we're hearing it from Gigi and Zayn

Zayn posted on his Twitter first, saying that he and Gigi had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship.

"I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and friend," he wrote, adding that he's grateful to their fans for respecting their privacy at this time.

"We with this news could have come from us first," he wrote.

Ten minutes later, Gigi posted on her own account

She said that even though breakup statements seem impersonal, she wanted to write something to her fans anyway.

"I want nothing but the best for him," she wrote, adding that as for the future, "whatever's meant to be will always be."

But it looks like Zayn was the one who ended it

Zayn was the first to unfollow Gigi on Instagram, and his post seems to be considerably less personal and hopeful than her's. Gigi looks like she's open to reconciliation while Zayn, who has a tattoo of both her and ex-fiancee Perrie Edwards, is all business.

And now I'm hunched over my laptop crying while simultaneously dry heaving at work.
