Babe is hiring cool, smart, weird-as-fuck writers and social media managers for our Brooklyn office. Dress is casual, work is important but fun, and the breakfast cereal is free-flowing.

Social Producer, New York City

This one's for people with a vision. You will be creating highly distinctive content for babe’s Instagram and Facebook pages, distributing our stories and videos on social, hosting and editing videos for our platforms, and fighting our haters in the comments.

The position is full time and will start in June/July 2018. Working alongside 15 other people in our office in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, you will be responsible for:

• Creating distinctive content (memes, viral videos, supercuts etc) for babe’s Instagram and Facebook

• Hosting a weekly video that will entertain and connect with our audience

• Editing videos

• Developing original ideas for growing babe’s Instagram

• Achieving growth across babe’s Instagram and Facebook pages

• Developing growth strategies when necessary to achieve success

News Reporter, New York City

If you're endlessly curious, completely unflappable, and love getting blocked by politicians and celebs on Twitter, this one is all you.

The role will include daily news blogging, breaking regular exclusives and assisting the special projects editor with investigative reporting work. We’re looking for someone who is obsessive about getting a story and has a strong track record of breaking exclusives, however serious or trivial the subject matter.

For example, we took down a pedophile politician and owned Jonathan Cheban in the same month — that's the vibe. We also publish deep reporting like our story about Lauren Atkins in Oklahoma, which has led to national media coverage and legislative action. The position is full time with full benefits and will start in July 2018.

Ideal candidates will have:

• EITHER strong experience breaking stories at a digital media organization for over a year OR an exceptional college reporting record

• A first class attitude to work and an obvious ability to take the initiative and solve problems

• A proven knack for breaking scoops, either at professional organizations, a college newspaper or a blog

• Evidence of exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

• No problem having difficult conversations with people on the phone and in person in order to land stories

• Experience cultivating a list of sources as part of the news gathering process and a willingness to spend time combing obscure corners of the internet for leads

• A good understanding of babe’s voice and what makes us different

Video Producer, New York City

We've done some wild things on babe video — sure, most of the time it's making men feel uncomfortable, but that's the best part isn't it? A year and a half ago we also made the first viral iPhone group chat video that brought in tens of thousands of fans. Now, over a thousand people pay to be part of our membership program and get those videos daily.

This role includes producing original videos for babe’s platforms, from ideation to editing, making viral videos that reach millions of new fans, and editing our daily premium video series. The ideal candidate will also be able to host regular videos, although this is not a requirement.

Responsibilities

Working alongside 15 other people in our office in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, you will be responsible for:

• Ideating, producing and editing original videos

• Making viral videos for our social accounts

• Editing our daily video series, Is It Just Me?

• Commissioning freelance video hosts to make original videos for babe

• Developing distribution strategies so millions of people are watching babe’s videos every month

• Bonus: Hosting regular videos for babe

Contributing Writers, Remote

Babe is looking for freelance writers from across the country to contribute interesting, weird, different and hilarious stories our audience will really give a fuck about. Writers will be paid per story, and pitches will be accepted on a rolling basis. To pitch:

• Have an idea that's unique. What's already being said about this subject? What can you say about it that's different to what's already been said?

• Understand where your story fits in with our audience of women ages 18-24(ish). Is your idea something babe readers will care about? Is it something they should care about? Is it entertaining and informative?

• Read lots of babe stories to familiarize yourself with our style and the subjects we typically cover.

• Send a fully fleshed-out pitch (a lil summarization with details on what will really make it great) with some information about who you are and links to previously published blogs and stories if you've got 'em to [email protected].
