Someone created a Facebook page about missing Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts and posted ‘Mollie wants to be here’

They’ve been sending out cryptic messages

A troll has made a fake Facebook account in the name of missing Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts. It's a page that has been pumping out messages claiming Mollie, who disappeared in rural Iowa over two weeks ago, ran away on purpose to be with a man.

"Mollie wants to be here," says a recent post. "I don't know why everyone wants to take her away from me. I've waited so long for this. No one is going to ruin this for us."

Another says: "I just want to be left alone right now" and "To everyone who has blown this out of proportion… I just need some time to myself! STOP SEARCHING FOR ME." Commenters have rightly called the person behind the account a "sick fuck."

Fake Mollie posts

There's a lot of speculation about who could be behind it, and the commenters on the page suspect Trini Anja, a notorious troll. Trini has been posting gleeful messages underneath news stories about Mollie's disappearance, and has been baiting people on the fake page. He's also known for harassing the families of murder victims, including the mom of a 21-year-old who was stabbed to death in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
