Christians say the creepy bishop who groped Ariana Grande did nothing wrong

‘He wasn’t groping, he was just trying to make her feel welcome’

Christians who say the bishop who molested Ariana Grande did nothing wrong are pulling out all sorts of nasty excuses for him. All over the internet, underneath articles and videos of Bishop Charles H. Ellis III pawing at Ariana's breast during Aretha Franklin's funeral, Bible-bashing weirdos are now blaming her.

Either they're saying she shouldn't have worn the dress she did (the classic defense of the sexual assault apologist) or saying he didn't actually grope her (have they seen the video of him doing it and then his apology for doing it?).

"She needs to apologize for that dress being so short and being dressed inappropriate for the funeral," said one commenter on a news story about it. "I thought her dress was too short for a funeral especially with old men sitting behind her," added another. "Oh please.. give me a break. Quit trying to make molesters out of innocent people!"

One all-caps loon wrote: "I SAW NOTHING EVEN REMOTELY THAT INCLUDED GROPING ARIANA… STOP TRYING TO DEMONIZE THIS BISHOP, WHO DID NOTHING WRONG!!"

But the worst posts by far were spotted on the Facebook page of the Detroit church, where Aretha Franklin's funeral was held. These comments, seen on the Greater Grace Temple page, were picked up by a Redditor:

They're still coming – just now members of Bishop Ellis' congregation are voicing their support for him, saying he shouldn't have apologized for groping Ariana Grande. "I'm defending you with boxing gloves," said one church-goer.

This is just a fraction of the posts out there by people trying to excuse what this bishop – a bishop! – did, which was grab Ariana's chest for an extended period of time.

"It would never be my intention to touch any woman's breast," said Ellis. "Maybe I crossed the border, maybe I was too friendly or familiar, but again, I apologize."
