Babe is hiring a news reporter for our New York office

Join us, we have a staggering amount of snacks

Babe is hiring cool, smart, weird-as-fuck writers for our Brooklyn, NY office. Dress is casual, work is important but fun, and the breakfast cereal is free-flowing.

This is an opportunity to join one of the fastest growing women’s sites, and gain experience in a newsroom that has been described by The New York Times as “deeply irresponsible.” Oh, and work with me! Which is an experience money can't buy, tbh. I mean, Jadakiss's cousin once bought me weed so I think that really says it all.

So if you're a hard-working, creative-minded, DGAF person with something to say, here's what we're looking for and how to apply:

News Reporter, New York City

If you're endlessly curious, completely unflappable, and love getting blocked by politicians and celebs on Twitter, this one is all you.

The role will include daily news blogging, breaking regular exclusives and assisting the special projects editor with investigative reporting work. We’re looking for someone who is obsessive about getting a story and has a strong track record of breaking exclusives, however serious or trivial the subject matter.

For example, we took down a pedophile politician and owned Jonathan Cheban in the same month — that's the vibe. We also publish deep reporting like our story about Lauren Atkins in Oklahoma, which has led to national media coverage and legislative action. The position is full time with full benefits and will start in November 2018.

Ideal candidates will have:

EITHER strong experience breaking original stories at a digital media organization for over a year OR an exceptional college reporting record

• A first class attitude to work and an obvious ability to take the initiative and solve problems

• A proven knack for breaking scoops, either at professional organizations, a college newspaper or a blog

• Evidence of exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

• No problem having difficult conversations with people on the phone and in person in order to land stories

• Experience cultivating a list of sources as part of the news gathering process and a willingness to spend time combing obscure corners of the internet for leads

• Willingness to leave ego at the door and grow as a reporter and writer

• A good understanding of babe’s voice and what makes us different
