So let’s revisit all those Stan Lee sexual assault allegations

He was accused of sexually assaulting multiple nurses and massage therapists

Stan Lee, the legendary writer and publisher of Marvel Comics, died yesterday at the age of 95. All over the Internet, people have been posting heartfelt tributes to him, declaring him a “real-life superhero” and a “creative genius.”

From actors who worked with him on movies to everyday fans of the Marvel franchise, it seems like almost everyone wanted to pay their respects to the man who was responsible for creating iconic superheroes such as Spider-Man and Black Panther.

But also seems like people forget that Stan Lee was accused of sexual assault. Over the past year, multiple women have accused the Marvel creator of inappropriate sexual behavior.

In January, the Daily Mail reported a nursing company employed to care for Lee stopped working for him after multiple young female nurses complained about sexual assault and harassment. A source told the Daily Mail that Lee would walk around naked in front of the female nurses, ask them for oral sex in the shower and request to be “pleasured” in the bedroom, and even grope the nurses.

According to the source who spoke to the Daily Mail, the owner of the nursing company claims “every single nurse that has been to the house.” After receiving complaints from several nurses, the owner of the company ultimately decided to stop working with Lee and enter a legal dispute with him.

Chicago-based massage therapist Maria Carballo also accused Lee of sexual assault. In April, she sued him for sexually assaulting her over the weekend of April 21 to 23, 2017 when she was hired to perform two massages on him. According to Carballo’s account in the lawsuit, Lee started to moan and masturbate while she was performing the first massage on him, making her feel so uncomfortable that she left early. After he apologized, she said she returned to perform the second massage. During the second massage, however, she said that he moved her feet against his genitals.

“For a long time, I was afraid to ask anyone to help me hold Mr. Lee accountable for how he treated me. He is rich and famous. I am not,” Carballo said in a statement to Page Six. “After seeing other women fight to be treated with dignity and respect, I decided, me too. I am still nervous and afraid, but not as much as I was before because I have other people helping me.”
