Ariana’s new song is filled with references to Mac Miller and now my heart is broken

Fans are freaking out

If 'Sweetener' was about Ariana Grande's relationship with Pete Davidson, the second album she's announced she's touring alongside Sweeter is about love, loss and the messy life she's experienced in between.

In an Instagram story the other day, the pop-star said her new album mourns "failed yet, important, beautiful relationships," as well as celebrating growth while exploring new independence. "

For those of you asking about imagine," she said, "I would say if 'thank u, next' = acceptance… 'imagine' = denial."

Upon first listen it might be a stretch to say the song is about Mac. There a few hints, like it must be about someone equally famous, since she says "This is a pleasure, feel like we never act this regular." She also says "Tell me your secrets, all of the creep shit, that's how I know it's true," and she and Mac were always open about their demons, despite being famous and seemingly having it all.

Ariana also told fans 'Imagine' is about "a simple, beautiful love that is now (and forever) unattainable." This already sounded like Mac, but people were sure when they remembered the rapper had an enormous 'Imagine' tattoo on his bicep:

People are already trying to protect the pop-star against the hate she will inevitably receive for this, similar to the hate she received over Mac's death in the first place:

But locals will say anything to hate on Ariana. One even said Pete and Mac were best friends?
