We asked girls what turns them off the most

What a girl wants (her man not to do)

Listen up, fellas.

Are you sitting on your phone wondering why that girl won’t text you back? Ever wonder what’s going through her head when she’s giving you that blank stare?

We got you.

I enlisted the help of my closest girlfriends and asked them to share what turns them off when it comes to the Y chromosome.

If you don’t appreciate our sense of humor, then we don’t appreciate you

Some of our universal no-nos include:

Smoking cigarettes: Nothing is stankier than a cigarette, and we don’t want to be smelling like second-hand smoke every time we hang out with you.

Chewing tobacco: The black stains on your teeth, the constant need to spit it out, and the bulge in your cheek are three things we do not find attractive. Don’t expect us to be weak in the knees when you’re chewing; it ain’t gonna happen.

Constantly spitting on the sidewalk: I will never understand why some guys feel the need to spit. I have never thought “I have way too much saliva in my mouth, I must spit it with flourish on the concrete.” It is personally one of my biggest turn-offs, and many of my friends have agreed.

Saying “you can get whatever you want” at a restaurant: Were you saying that I was limited before? Was there a restricted part of the menu that I wasn’t aware of? Thanks, sir, but I shall get whatever I choose, thank you very much!

Over a nice spaghetti dinner, I asked some of my girlfriends what their biggest turn-offs were. Guys, pay attention.

My dearest Joclyn

“When guys have really long fingernails and toenails, I can’t,” Joclyn said. “It’s also a huge turn-off to have dirty fingernails. If you can’t keep your fingernails clean, we strongly question what else you have trouble cleaning…”

One of her biggest pet peeves is when guys turn their read receipts on and off all the time. It’s extremely shady, and it seems incredibly time-consuming to make sure I don’t know you read my texts. We all agreed that guys who take the time to change their read receipt settings consistently are up to something, and it’s not something we want to be a part of.

Joclyn is also not a fan of guys who try too hard, or guys that interrupt her in a conversation. Just be yourself, fellas, and try to listen to us when we are talking to you.

Claire

This gem’s biggest turn-offs include:

Being rude to waitstaff: I know I absolutely hate when guys tap their credit cards for attention at the bars, and Claire feels the same way. If you’re nice to waiters or anyone in customer service, it goes a long way with us.

Being sexist: If a guy is a sore loser because he lost “to a girl”, that’s a major red flag. We are in the 21st century, women are now your equals. If I beat you in mini golf, you don’t have to remark on my gender.

Judges what and how much I eat: Claire is an ice-cream eating champ, and it is something to be marveled at.  When guys comment and ask if she’s really going to eat all that, they better get to stepping. She can eat whatever she wants!

Amy

This wonderful lady’s turn-offs are all about that character. If he’s arrogant, Amy’s out. There’s nothing more unattractive than a crappy personality, and the way a guy talks to others definitely says a lot about him. Amy’s sweet character will always put others first, so she can’t handle a guy who blatantly disregards the feelings of others.

She also commented on her distaste for guys who aren’t aware of their privilege. If you milk the advantages your skin color, your gender, or your economic class offer you, then you are not the one for Amy.

I hope that one guy out there finds this list a little insightful, and that it gives you a better idea of what’s going through your lady’s head.
