That Tinder couple who joked about meeting for three years finally met, and everyone is short-circuiting

‘Hey sorry my phone died’

We’ve all found ourselves wrapped in an ongoing  joke on Tinder: They message you and you pretend like you’ve met before, they start an argument about something that never happened, and you pretend like you know exactly what they’re talking about.

But what’s unlikely is that any of those running jokes carried on for any longer than three weeks — much less three years — before you decided to either get drinks, or ghost them.

So earlier this month when Josh Avsec tweeted a Tinder conversation between him and his match Michelle Arendas, people couldn’t believe how long they’d kept up the joke of forgetting to text back.

“One day I’m going to meet this girl and it’s going to be epic,” he said.

Here’s how their ‘conversation’ went

9/20/2014 Josh: Hey Michelle.

11/28/14 Michelle: Hey sorry my phone died!

11/29/14 Josh: Wow you found that pretty fast. It usually takes me about five months to find my charger.

9/29/14 Michelle: Yeah I just wanted to make sure it was fully charged, 0 to 100 real slow.

1/19/15 Josh: Hey, sorry I was in the shower.

2/13/15 Michelle: Hey just saw this message, sorry I was in class.

4/18/15 Josh: Sorry Michelle I have made a horrible first impression, I got really caught up with finals.

12/20/15 Michelle: Hi I really do apologize for just getting back to you, I’ve had a really busy week.

10/10/16 Josh: Michelle, I don’t want you to think I’m rude, midterms are coming up and it’s just been really hard to keep up with it all.

2/22/17 Michelle: Hey Josh, just wanted to get back to you really quickly. Presidents’ Day had me swamped recently, you know how it gets!!

Today, the pair finally got to meet (in front of a live audience) on Good Morning America

And they were definitely excited.

Look how cute they are meeting

Plus, people who have been following them cannot get enough

It looks like Tinder will be sending them to Hawaii next

Lucky bastards. I still can’t even get a “Drinks?” message.

My only question is: if they both went to Kent State, why couldn’t they meet sooner?
