Sorority girls tell you exactly how to get a bid to the house you want

Don’t look like a scrub

I'm confident I'd never be let into a sorority, ever. Tbh they probably wouldn't even let me in the house to rush, spotting my bad hickey cover-up job and tequila breath the moment I set foot on sorority row.

Sororities aren't for everyone, but if they're for you, this is how to actually get a bid to the house you want:

Look hot AND fun

“Always look hot and FUN on campus before rush. Going out in a big group to frat parties before school starts is a good way to do this. The sorority girls will be there and judging everything you do so look cute but not sloppy. Talk to boys to show you’re normal but DON’T get too cozy because you never know who used to date who.”

Copy other sorority girls' style

“Look at the Instagram accounts of your few favorite houses to find out what kind of clothes they wear and what aesthetic they have. Styling yourself similar to them will make them feel like you would fit well into their culture.”

Don't trash talk other houses, you bitch

“It should be obvious, but never disparage another sorority to the one you want because everyone has friends in every house. No one wants to recruit a girl who’s going to be a bitch.”

Make them think you do really cool things by having a great Insta account

“If you did a lot of cool stuff the summer before recruitment, make sure you have photo evidence of it and post it all on your social media accounts. Keep the accounts public if you have a good aesthetic – it’ll give the recruitment teams more reasons to think you would be an asset to their chapter.”

Don't even think about mentioning guys or having fun

“Don’t talk about guys or partying during recruitment. It’s an unspoken rule.”

Do something wild to be memorable

“It's important to try and connect with the girl talking to you with a memorable conversation because members talk to so many girls a day. You want to stand out. And if a member remembers you from the day before and says hi, it's really good”

Be cool AND chill

“If rush bleeds into your first day or two at school, be sure to dress cute but not like you’re trying too hard. We like girls who are cool AND chill.”

You can be a little vain

“Don’t feel bad about talking about yourself during rush. The girls are there to get to know YOU to decide if they want you. Prop yourself up and brag about yourself but remember – there’s a line between pompous and humble. Be confident but not an asshole.”

Be a social butterfly even if you don't want to talk to anyone

“The more social you are and the more people you meet the more sororities are going to want you. They like girls who have a social impact because they look at you as someone who could be a future social chair or president.”

Don't look like a scrub, you scrub

“Just look good. Houses want girls that frats are going to want to interact with. Looking like a scrub won’t get you bids from top sororities.”
