I’m pretty sure Kamala Harris just announced she’s running for President in 2020

There’s a light at the end of the tunnel

This weekend, while talking about his own run for Governor of California, former Los Angles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa let it slip that Kamala Harris, California freshman Senator, would be “knocking on doors” in Iowa soon — which can only mean one thing.

Hounded for months now about whether or not she’d consider a run for President in 2020, Harris played coy at first. But the hope was she was remaining quiet as a means of avoiding the spotlight while strategizing, and it looks like we were right.

Villaraigosa predicts Harris will be the the Democratic nominee in 2020.

“I hope she will support my candidacy, but as you say, she is a great candidate. But in any case, I’m focused on this race, not the presidential race,” he continued.

The first major nominating event in election cycles, a victory in Iowa is key to gaining ground in the running. In 2008, Obama won.

A rising star in the Democratic Party, after campaigning for Hillary in the 2016 election, she’s brought a number of former Clinton campaign vets on board to work in her Washington, D.C., congressional office. She was also spotted mingling with former top donors to Hillary Clinton in the Hamptons in late July.

If she does run, and we presume she will, it’ll be a while until she announces her definitive candidacy but things are looking promising.
