Vine’s shutdown was announced a year ago today, so here are some Vines to keep you from wanting to die too

I love it, I love it

I think about Vine every single day of my fucking life.

It's easy to build up something that's already over as better than it actually was — an ex, infinity scarves, whatever.

But Vine was different.

I might even assert that Vine was almost… perfect. Who knew what levels of comedy, drama and intrigue a mere six seconds of video could contain? Nobody, until Vine came around.

Watch any of videos and tell me that Vine deserved to die.

  • Fuck it. Watch a compilation. Because the content still completely holds up when presented in a longer format.

  • Vines changed the goddamn game when it came to memes, because the built-in time constraint encouraged creativity and brevity. Vine pushed people to craft a single, perfect moment. And boy, did they ever deliver.

I'm not saying that Vine getting shuttered is the only reason that Donald Trump got elected, I'm just saying that if Hillary had promised to protect the best video content online people might have been a little more motivated to head to the polls.

And although old Vines remain online to entertain us, lurking on the app itself or in Youtube compilations, it's not the same and it never will be.

    Fuck.
