Bella Thorne says Disney slut-shamed and almost fired her for wearing a bikini at age 14

Bella Thorne is widely known for her campy, sometimes hypersexual social media presence. People either seem to adore her or despise her — I've been on both sides of the aisle, but now I'm definitely pro-Bella because she's so defiantly herself that I can't bring myself to hate.

But it turns out that being Bella almost got her fired from her first big gig. In an interview with Tom Ward released today, Thorne revealed that when a photograph of herself — then 14 — wearing a black bikini got posted on social media, Disney told her that they wanted to fire her.

"They said, 'You're lucky that Bella has such a fanbase that we can't afford to fire her at this point in time, but if she does one more thing, we will,'" Thorne told Ward.

I for one completely understand Disney's position. Wearing a swimsuit? At the beach? How the fuck did she expect to stay employed with THAT kind of behavior?

Bella has since cut ties with Disney, and is currently focusing her efforts on directing and her music career, which definitely seems like a step up. I for one am rooting for her.
