Yes, Nicki Minaj is now dating a registered sex offender and convicted killer

Nicki Minaj is Instagram official with a 40-year-old man named Kenneth Petty, a level 2 registered sex offender in New York who has been convicted of attempted rape as well as manslaughter.

According to the New York Sex Offenders database, Petty was convicted of attempted rape on April 5, 1995. Court records obtained by TMZ reveal that Petty was 16 at the time and his victim was a 16-year-old girl. The records also show that he used a sharp object when he tried to force the girl to have sex with him.

He served almost 4 years in New York state prison for the crime. He is now classified as a level 2 sex offender, indicating that he has a “moderate risk of repeat offense.”

Nicki herself admitted to her boyfriend’s crimes. On an Instagram photo of herself and Petty, she responded to a commenter: “He was 15, she was 16…in a relationship. But go awf, Internet. Y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life. Thank you boo.”

Nicki disabled the comments on her Instagram account, but not before a screenshot of her comment was captured and posted by @theshaderoom.

Petty was also convicted of first-degree manslaughter. A criminal complaint obtained by The Blast shows that Petty pled guilty to the shooting death of a man named Lamont Robinson. According to the complaint, Petty shot Robinson “with a loaded handgun multiple times” on April 27, 2002. He served 7 years for the crime and was released in May 2013.

This is not the first time that Nicki has defended a sex offender. She defended her 40-year-old brother, Jelani Maraj, when he was found guilty in November 2017 of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl. She has also supported and collaborated with Tekashi 6ix9ine, who was sentenced to four years of probation in October for engaging in sexual acts with a 13-year-old girl.
