This 28-year-old just won an election over a 10-term Congressman in her first ever campaign

The Bronx? She’s so powerful

Millennials are once again making grown men cry. You may not have heard, but a 28-year-old Latina named Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just beat 10-term congressman Joe Crowley in New York's 14th congressional district on Tuesday night.

Ocasio-Cortez is an advocate for the Democratic Socialists of America and also the first person in 14 years to challenge the incumbent of the same party. She swayed the vote in her favor by appealing to voters in the minority-majority district, airing out her progressive ideas for universal health care and the abolition of ICE.

"You have given this country hope, you have given this country proof that when you knock on your neighbor's door, when you come to them with love, when you let them know that no matter your stance, you are there for them — that we can make change," she said on Tuesday.

She's a graduate of Boston University, and was working at a bar this time last year.

When Crowley was a no-show at their debate in The Bronx, claiming a conflicting schedule, the Bronx native said she'd felt disrespected by his actions. "I understand he hasn't been challenged for 14 years," Ocasio-Cortez said, "but that doesn't mean that an election isn't happening. In fact, what's happening right now is historic and it's an opportunity to show up for the community."

The moment Ocasio-Cortez learned she won was overwhelmingly pure, too:

All I can say is this is another win for us Bronxites. As for Crowley, I know he mad right now.
