Inside the world of Premium Snapchat, private NSFW accounts that rake in thousands of dollars

If you've ever taken a nude so pristine you thought to yourself, "I should get paid to do this," then boy do I have news for you — you absolutely can.

All you need is a premium Snapchat — an account where people, usually women, create erotic or pornographic content that's accessible for a small subscriber's fee.

According to the women babe connected with via Twitter, running a premium Snapchat account might be a viable option if you love to flaunt your sexuality and have an intimate knowledge of your most flattering angles.

But it's not easy, because in the realm of sex work — and yes, this is sex work — nothing is.

It's not the only site most women use

For most of the women I spoke to, their premium Snapchat accounts aren't their only outlets for selling their content online or their primary source of income.

"I don’t spend to much time a day on it to be honest," said Tosh, an adult entertainer from Scotland. "I upload every 2 days average. I’m also on Babestation Cam and SaucyTime." Tosh also took a six month break from camming and Snapping after her daughter was born.

Other women use Snapchat premium to connect with fans of their work as models and adult actresses in addition to sites like AdultWork and CamModel.

Creating content takes time

There's a big difference between satisfying a paying audience and getting Nick from Sig Chi to come over after he's done playing pickup basketball with "the boys." Most of the women who run premium Snap accounts post something on a daily basis, from daily life updates to nudes, solo masturbation videos or full-on sex.

And it's not just about what you post for subscribers — you've gotta get people to subscribe in the first place, which means you need promo material too.

"Sometimes I'll post a few snaps as I go about my day, sometimes my shows last an hour or two in one go," said Rogue, a model and amateur porn maker. "I also spend a lot of time creating promo content for [my account] to show off what guys can see if they join."

Plot twist: men sometimes get upset when they're asked to pay to see what they feel entitled to for free — women's bodies.

"People always try and get material for free and usually send abuse when you don’t reply to their ignorance," Tosh said. "It’s so funny how many guys find out your Snapchat username and add you hoping you will add them back."

Rogue has also had to deal with people asking for handouts. "Lots of guys test their luck. It's also surprising how many promo pages try to get you to give premium snapchat for free in return for a shoutout," she said. "I always decline, as I get promoted for free regularly and I need to earn money to pay bills like everyone else." Amen.

Everyone wants in on the action

Sex work is a profession that many people — women included — tend to look down on. But one of the women who runs a premium Snapchat, who asked to be identified as E, said that she was surprised at how many women she's had reach out to her and ask how she does it.

"People shame people every day for this stuff," she said. "When behind closed doors, all the girls admire my hustle."

Other women said that before they ran their own accounts, they didn't know how good the market is for premium Snapchat content. Marilyn, an adult actress who uses other cam sites, said she was surprised by how "lucrative" running a premium Snapchat can be, and Tosh said she "didn't anticipate how high demand and audience is" for it.

It's not easy, but it can be pretty fun

"It's a lot more work than I thought it would be, mainly because I put a lot if pressure on myself," Rogue said, but went on to describe how rewarding she finds it. "I really enjoy running it and sharing my life and intimate sexual moments with other people that I know are very supportive of me and my work."

Whether or not you're "selling sex," there are a ton of perks to being your own boss. The women I spoke to were happy with the creativity and control that releasing original content via Snapchat allowed them to have.

"I love Snapchat and making unique masturbate-able stories," said Marilyn. "Snapchat is perfect for amateur porn."
