Pour one out for the guy who went on a romantic trip to Bali with his wife and lived through the plot of Along Came Polly

‘My world is completely shattered right now. She’s still in Bali and I took an early flight home’

Spare a thought today for the guy who just lived through the opening 10 minutes of Along Came Polly, the Ben Stiller classic about a married man who gets cheated on by his wife in a tropical paradise.

"I took my wife on a 10th anniversary trip to Bali and I caught her cheating on me," says a man posting on Reddit's relationship advice board. "My world is completely shattered right now. She's still in Bali and I took an early flight home. I had suspected her of cheating earlier in the year but had no concrete proof."

He writes that his wife of 10 years (and partner of 13 years) met a guy on their romantic vacation and hooked up with him. "I can't even begin to understand the thought process she's going through," he says. "It feels like being stabbed so hard in the heart. It also sounds like he's only telling her the things she wants to hear and she believes it all."

  • Fans of Along Came Polly will recognize this as the plot of the 2004 movie, which saw a dork named Reuben leave his wife Lisa to go for scuba with Claude, and return to see her catching the pipe.

The Reddit man adds: "I just want my wife back and I HATE this guy. But I don't even know if I can get past this. She texts me maybe twice a day right now just to say she's okay and that she's having a good time. I don't think I can stay with her after this when I get those texts but part of me keeps remembering the good times and omits the bad."

    Damn that sucks.
